Book Chapter 5 Addenda

(p.72) Arnold Wright [1] wrote that Great Grandfather Yeo Pooh Myah had established the firm of Sin Chip Moh & Co. in Rangoon after ten years of trading in Singapore and Penang. He imported silk, matches and other Chinese and Japanese goods, and exported rice to the Straits Settlements, China and Japan. Newspaper reports would also find that Yeo Poon Myah and his clan members established in 1884 trading businesses Yeo Heng Moh in Singapore, Heng Moh in Rangoon, Yeo Heng Cheang separately in Mandalay and Myingyan. Following in the footsteps of his father, Grandfather opened branches in Singapore and Penang under the style of Yeo Chip Moh & Co., at Amoy under the style of Chip Kee & Co., and at other parts of Burma under the styles of Yeo Heng Cheang & Co., and Chip Moh Chan.
