The Legend of Sye Thow Kong

Who is Sye Thow Kong?

The Legend of Sye Thow Kong/Shi Tou Gong

It is said that in a certain dynasty, there was a Yeo descendant who looked very similar to the Emperor. One year, the ministers learned that there would be an assassination attempt on the Emperor when he was on his way to visit a neighboring country. The Yeo person was summoned and made the Chief Envoy to escort the Emperor and to impersonate the Emperor when appropriate. True enough, the traitor took action, and the Chief Envoy died in place of the Emperor. So people believed that he was indeed a patron deity, and started to worship him in shrines. According to another legend, he was the eldest son of the head of the famous Yang family of generals, Yang Linggong.
